NSI (National Security Inspectorate)

The National Security Inspectorate, (NSI), is the leading inspectorate certificating companies within the security and fire sectors. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, the NSI ensure standards within these sectors remain high for the protection of the consumer.

The NSI client base is based throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland: all are regularly inspected by a team of 40 professional auditors. Depending on the size of the company being audited, inspections can last from days to weeks and include onsite inspections at customer premises to check compliance with standards, review new contracts and check staff are security screened.

Each inspection resulted in a large amount of paperwork with each inspector having to write up reports at home prior to sending them to the NSI Head Office in Maidenhead. This process meant much of the inspectors' time was spent duplicating data.  

Seeking to increase efficiency throughout the organisation, NSI approached Ideal Host in 2007 to explore a complete review of their IT systems.

We were able to design and develop a bespoke system incorporating:

  • In-house business solutions for 50 users - This CRM package includes an email agent, a group diary, project management, contact correspondence history and an order and products tracker. All are linked to the finance package.
  • PDA remote worker solution for 40 PDA's - This has taken the repetitive paperwork out of audits and relays all information from an inspection straight back to the office
  • Job scheduling system - This links to the CRM solution and allows Head Office staff to schedule and manage inspections for all auditors.
  • The provision and maintenance of 4 websites including an e-commerce Solution.

Our Solution has provided NSI with an integrated system allowing them to focus more effort into ensuring that security and fire companies provide a high class and safe service for the consumer.
